Women in Control

This femandala or womandala contains a lot of powerful female imagery. At it’s center, it contains a birth control pack. The women’s legs are separated from the rest of her body to demonstrate how women can be seen as objects and valued for their parts as opposed to their whole selves. Four sunflower figures symbolize the stages of a woman’s cycle. And a number of women are gathering hands around the base of the drawing. The white or negative space between their legs resemble a hanger which is another symbol often associated with women’s reproductive health issues and rights.
